Boys and Girls Week: Youth Convention

September 17, 2009 @ Muntinlupa City Hall.

There was a conflict in my schedule. The juniors and seniors are supposed to go to Mall of Asia for this College Fair but unfortunately, the Youth Convention was also scheduled on the afternoon. If I was asked, I would rather go to MOA than the Youth Convention knowing that it's the first and probably last time that I'll be in a trip together with the juniors and seniors minus Oscar; he was not allowed to come *shot*

I was surprised when I came to the venue because all of the representatives were already acquainting themselves with everyone, and everyone of them were determined to get a good position. I didn't have intention to get anything if you ask, I'm already tired for more things. I was...very taken aback by the representatives, it feels like going back to the time when I wasn't in Montessori yet. The people there were presidents of everything and the firsts of everything, they are the competitive and monstrous people I haven't seen for a while. The people there were so determined that they can shut you up and make your thoughts blank. It's actually hard to trust people who do everything for the glory...it's scary.

I am the little Councilor for the 2nd district of Muntinlupa. I didn't enjoy it as how I expected. More than an enjoyable experience, it became a learning experience for me. And these learning, I would like everyone to actually know it and give their opinions about it.

1. I should always wear my glasses wherever I go. I could have said my speech much better in the midst of the coldness in the room and my nervousness if my glasses were present. There were unnecessary pauses because my eyes cannot see the copy of my speech.

2. From this number onwards, the teacher with us gave me the clarity of the situation that took place. First, the barricade formed when you mention that you came from an exclusive school. Honestly, the Southridge representatives were the obvious people who can get the highest positions. The one spoke like a REAL politician, the other one spoke with conviction and articulation. But they didn't get the positions they deserve.

The point is, as mentioned by the teacher with us, it is a natural mentality among Filipinos to not root for the people who came from exclusive schools like my school and Southridge. I don't know if it’s true because I don't understand the perception of people who are not enrolled in an exclusive school. Even though those people are the most capable, people would not support them to the fullest. It's something like, those people are already rich, they almost have everything, so they're out of the game --something like that.

3. The concept of smart voting…is actually dead. I'm not being boastful or anything but this is just an honest opinion. Most of the people who got the higher positions were voted because of their personality and not because of the speech they delivered. I can clearly relate this with what happened to me regarding the Parliament when the position and my pride were denuded. I mean, AGAIN not be boastful or anything, but the speech that most of the higher people delivered were insipid. It was the personality they based upon which is an idiotic way a voter could have done it. I understand now why the smart and deserving people don't get any position in the public government, it's the people at fault.

4. The language difference. It's a new learning from me that English and Filipino would really do something in a man's behavior. I didn't notice it until I was informed of this matter. We were looked like we are aliens simply because English is the language we have in our school and not Filipino. I know that there's only a tiny percent of schools that speak English everyday but I didn't know that using English for speaking in front of them will make them NOT listen. It was very trivial since I never heard of this matter before.

When my teacher explained to me this, I finally found out why that Southridge student, whose language is English, did his best to speak in Filipino in some parts of his speech even though he has an accent.

I had vouches and it's really the Southridge people who are very deserving of the position. I didn't vouch for myself…until now since my speech was one of the worst speeches I ever delivered. Thanks to me who then and only THEN had accepted the fact that glasses are necessary wherever I go. Okay I suddenly felt a De ja vu

Ateneo College Entrance Test

September 20, 2009. I was scheduled on the afternoon which was suckish since I'm always not in the best condition during the afternoon.

It was my first time to commute to a place far away cause usually, my Dad will drop me off. Then I realized that commuting to ADMU or UP was very tiring…but I had fun.

I don't recall my past very much but I guess it was my first time to ride the LRT. It was also the first time I heard of ticket vending machine +.+ The LRT is much better, the place is wider and for my first ride, I lolzed when I saw a TV5 ad across me (refer to picture above). Rick and Ysabel were included in the picture LOL . It's nice to say that I and my mom didn’t get lost, both of us don't know the way to ADMU so we relied on several bodyguards along the way.

I arrived at ADMU and saw a lot of people and some of them are not just "people" some are creatures of light; I'm referring to both genders, gah!

Picture of the trees with blue lights taken while I was walking. I don't know why I didn't stop, so TADA!--blurred picture!

The test was more humane compared to UP. I can't say that the ACET didn't have a zombifying attribute, the second part of the test which included Abstract Reasoning and Numerical Ability were monsters. Time pressure was the biggest problem on that test. For the first two parts, I wasn't surprised by the 5 minute time they gave us to answer 25 questions, the Ateneo Junior Summer Seminar exam last year made me experience it. The Abstract Reasoning…I hate it, sometimes I can't even see a pattern forming on the given items. The Reading Comprehension…I relied on my instinct, my brain's getting hazy by that time and the time is not giving me chances to read the givens thoroughly. The Numerical Ability…is my fault. I didn't review so I only got to answer some questions. I could have answered the rest if reviewing crossed my mind the days before the exam; some problems were familiar but I didn't remember the proper way to answer it. But whether I reviewed or not, 25 minutes are not enough to answer those problems on time.

I think both test are equally difficult. UPCAT was difficult because of the Math part plus a bit of time pressure whereas ACET was difficult because of TIME PRESSURE ALONE AND ABSTRACT REASONING Every university has its own way to make the exams difficult.

In my Life

September 21, 2009. Let's just say that I want to experience running away from school works that's why I was eager to go out of the house today *shot* My family watched "In my Life" today at Festival Mall.

A few nights before this day, I was very worried because I had a lot of things to do today. This day is the only day when I can face my mountains of school work especially that my defense is already next week. Saturday is my lazy day, I got ACET on Sunday and my schedule's blank on Monday. But because I like to fool around, I chose to go out with my family ^.^

When I bought Shawarma, my sister didn't stop taking pictures. There was no one in the Shawarma stall, so the guy manning the Mini Donuts beside it took over. It very kind of him ^.^ But I think the dude got very uncomfortable when my sister is continuously taking pictures, LOL.

The movie is not very bad, it was good and I enjoyed it even though Luis Manzano's death is funny.

So, to conclude this weekend, I think I spent it as a real "long weekend" because I went out somewhere, haha.
